Brand Photoshoot for Bay Area Nutritionist Alanna DeSalvo
How lucky am I that I get to photograph the most passionate and strong women! Recently I worked with Alanna DeSalvo, a Board Certified Nutritionist who helps clients maintain their energy and eat what's best for their bodies. I had so much fun hearing about her personal experience and working on a shoot that would tell her story.
She had originally reached out to do a photoshoot to truly capture the essence of her business and the passion behind her purpose; I think it’s safe to say we did just that! A couple of weeks before her shoot, I met with Alanna to discuss the look that she wanted and determined what images would really capture her brand. We decided on a vibrant, light-hearted vibe for the overall shoot and then quickly began the hunt for an open kitchen space with lots of lighting. She and I also decided to keep her wardrobe simple so her accent pieces and props could really pop.
On the day of the shoot, we started at an Oakland loft set-up that she found on Peerspace, where Alanna whipped up some of her go-to recipes that were full of color and made for an aesthetic dish. Working with fresh ingredients naturally added some beautiful color to the shots and kept that natural feel we were aiming for. I even got to sneak a bite of Alanna’s homemade bars (the recipe can be found in her free ebook here), which were sooooo yummy! Highly recommend.
When I first spoke with Alanna to plan her shoot, she mentioned using an outdoor space or a garden for some of the images. Luckily, we were able to shoot at Potrero Hill Community Gardens, which felt close to home for Alanna, since she mentioned she frequently visits some gardens in her hometown. I was so happy we timed this perfectly because the sunlight added such a blissful glow. The greenery, the sunshine, Alanna’s smile— all made for the perfect shot to capture the warmth behind who Alanna is as a person and as a business owner.
Just like I try my best to help my clients feel their best, so does Alanna, which is why I had such a great time working with her. I hope you enjoyed seeing Alanna’s story through these images!
