My Very First Out of State Brand Photoshoot in Portland, Oregon!
You may know me as a Bay Area personal brand photographer, but once in a while I have the opportunity to travel to my clients! I love being able to photograph brand photoshoots while also getting to explore new areas. Last month I met my good friend, Marielle Balogh, for her own photoshoot in Portland, Oregon. Marielle and I used to co-work together in San Francisco and have continued to stay in touch. She is the founder of Tributary Designs and has a mission to help her clients tell their stories with the help of her own creativity. Her brand is already so well established so it was great seeing it all come to life during her photoshoot.
If there is one thing this day was all about, it was definitely teamwork. Being a designer, Marielle was eager to get some aesthetic prop shots to show clients the type of work that she does for her new website launch. One of the big projects Marielle recently had was designing a campaign for Kinfield skincare company, so she wanted to capture images that would portray the same level of quality work she provides for clients. We were so fortunate that her creative friends helped out for the day to style the product shots. Leah Lavelle was the head prop stylist for the day and made everything look so pretty; Having a creative team is everything when there are a lot of moving parts to a brand photoshoot!
Besides taking some product images, I took some stylish headshots of Marielle herself. She put together all of her outfits for the photoshoot, which fit perfectly with her brand. Her hair and makeup was beautifully done by a local hair and makeup artist Kendahl Robarts. From hair and makeup to posing in front of backdrops, we were able to do it all at the stunning studio space Marielle rented, Daylight Creative. The lighting and spaciousness made it the perfect spot to capture a full library of images!
After a full day of photographing products, Marielle with her team, and Marielle by herself, we had some very special guests join the photoshoot. Marielle’s partner, Sam, brought their adorable dog to hop in some photos. The three of them posed in their El Camino car for some golden hour shots, and I could not get over how cool these three looked! We wrapped up the shoot here and ended the day having dinner with the team.
My time in Portland was time well spent. I was able to do some exploring after the photoshoot day and catch up with Marielle. The few days I was there were filled with good company and gorgeous scenery. While this was my first big brand photoshoot out of state, I hope to do more like this in the future!
