As a San Francisco maternity photographer, every session holds a special place in my heart, but this one was extra special. I had the incredible honor of photographing my best friend as she embraced the beauty of motherhood. Being both her friend and her photographer allowed me to witness and document this milestone in the most heartfelt way possible.

We started our maternity photography session in the comfort of her home in San Francisco. The warm morning light filtered through the windows, creating a serene and intimate atmosphere. We used her walls as a natural light studio and played creatively with poses and what was around us (like the windows, the curtains, and some flowers!). Documenting maternity photography in a familiar space always adds an extra layer of authenticity and emotion, making the images feel even more personal and timeless.

Later, we ventured to Ocean Beach with her husband, one of my favorite locations. I love the marsh like backdrop with the soft green colors on the sand. Wind can be nerve wracking for my clients, but I love the authenticity it creates in images. The way the wind played with her dress, the ocean breeze blowing their hair—it makes the photos feel more alive.

As a San Francisco maternity photographer, my goal is always to create images that tell a story. This session was more than just a photoshoot; it was a celebration of a new chapter, a love letter to the incredible journey my best friend is embarking on. Capturing her maternity session in both the comfort of her home and the vast beauty of Ocean Beach allowed us to document the full spectrum of emotions that come with awaiting a little one.
