I had the pleasure of working with Teryn Grey last month and I'm finally getting around to posting about it. It's been a busy, busy start to 2018! This was a unique session for me and I can't wait to share these images with you.
Tara is the woman behind Teryn Grey, a Santa Barbara based Lifestyle blog that incorporates Greyhounds into her work. I have photographed dogs a few times, but this was my first time working with animals at this scale. The goal of this shoot was to incorporate eleven, yes eleven, Greyhounds from Golden State Greyhound Adoption into different images through out the day.
The session took place on the private estate of Willow Camp Estate in Stinson Beach. The house was built in 1917 and you can really feel the history throughout the entire home. We used various rooms around the home and backyard to incorporate different looks and Greyhounds.
One of my favorite rooms of the property had a large fireplace with a window that overlooked the Pacific Ocean. This was the darkest room in the home and it's where we decided to shoot a group shot of the Greyhounds at the end of the day. I was unsure of how these would turn out given the minimal light and unpredictable behavior of the dogs, but they ended up being some of my favorite shots that day.
For this session, I rented a 35mm lens and I ended up using it the entire day. I think it's safe to say that I'll be adding this lens to my collection in the future!
